Cemetery #1 Belmont, NV This is one of the many graves in the Belmont cemetery, but one of the few with a (mostly) legible headstone. Many of the graves had only wooden markers, long since weathered away to illegibility - where anything remains at all. Visiting this cemetery, one is struck by just how very many graves of children there are here. This is something one tends to forget - how very short and tragic life could be in the past, as well as just how much of a difference modern medicine and healthcare has made. The inscription reads: James M. Groves .... .. .... DIED August 21, 1871 AGED 39 yrs, 2 mo's
