Wells Fargo #1

Treasure City, NV

This ruin of tumbled stone marks what was initially the Treasure City Wells Fargo & Company bank and express office and, later, a general store.

The Treasure City town site was established in 1869, during the White Pine silver rush of the 1860's. The site is located on a wind-blasted knob of rock at high elevation - over 9,000 feet. After only one winter, it became obvious that this site was NOT suitable for a large community!
