Red Canyon Petroglyphs - Panel #4 Volcanic Tablelands, CA This heavily vandalized rock art panel still bears some impressive images - a large human figure, shields, a bighorn sheep and mountain goat, snake, and other less recognizable patterns. Sadly, in addition to scribbled etchings defacing some of the figures, several bullet holes pit the surface. Many other petroglyphs in the area have similarly been wantonly defaced with graphitti, bullet holes, and other abuse. At this point in the photo session the skies were heavily overcast and the Moon was starting to set. The dark clouds were also producing occasional sprinkles of rain.
