Ball Mill Atolia, CA This piece of equipment is a ball mill at the Atolia mine. Tungsten ore, along with large metal ball bearings, was loaded into the mill to be crushed as the cylinder rotated and tumbled the contents. When active, this must have been a tremendously noisy building to work in! This mill is located inside a largely intact building - it is pitch dark in here, requiring use of a flashlight to set up and navigate.
