Skeletal Framework Cerro Gordo Mine, CA Large sections are missing from the roof of the building housing the mine entrance. The building creaks and rattles in the wind at night. In taking this shot, I stepped into a pocket of cold air - quite an eerie effect until I found that I was standing in the subterranean exhalation from a boarded up tunnel located in the adjacent wall - the tunnel extends out of sight into the mountainside.
