Split Rock Joshua Tree National Park, CA
This formation is aptly named 'Split Rock'. The boulder is simply huge, the picture gives little sense of the true scale of this monolith. Underneath the far side of the boulder is a large cavernous area used by the Serrano Indians as shelter. The soot stained overhang could have easily sheltered many people.
